The Little Engine That Could
In a sunny valley surrounded by green hills, there was a little blue engine who loved to help. One day, a cheerful red train carrying toys, balloons, and yummy treats puffed along the tracks, heading to the children on the other side of the mountain. But oh no! Halfway up, the red train's wheels stopped turning. She let out a sad whistle and sighed, "I can't go any farther! What will the children do without their toys?"

Just then, the little blue engine chugged up beside her. "What's wrong?" she asked, her eyes wide with concern. When the red train explained her trouble, the little blue engine thought for a moment. "Don’t worry! I’ll ask one of the big engines to help!"

The little blue engine rolled up to a shiny silver passenger train. "Excuse me," she said politely. "The red train has broken down. Will you help pull her up the mountain so the children can get their toys?"

"Me? Help?" scoffed the passenger train. "I carry important people, not toys! I don’t have time for that." He puffed away, leaving the little blue engine feeling disappointed.

But she didn’t give up! Next, she found a strong, grumbling freight train loaded with heavy cargo. "Hello," she said. "The red train is stuck, and the children need their toys. Can you help?"

The freight train frowned. "I’m too tired after pulling all this cargo. Helping with toys isn’t my job." He chugged off without another word.

The little blue engine felt a pinch of doubt, but she shook it off. "I’ll try one more time!" she said to herself. She discovered an old rusty engine resting near the tracks. "Hello," she said. "The red train needs help getting over the mountain. Will you lend a hand?"

The rusty engine wheezed and coughed. "I’m sorry, little one," he said. "I’m far too old to pull anything now."

The little blue engine blinked, her heart sinking. But as she looked at the sad red train, she made up her mind. "If no one else will help, I’ll try my best!"

She rolled back to the red train and hitched herself to the front. "I think I can, I think I can," she whispered as she started up the steep mountain. Her wheels squeaked and her engine hummed. "I think I can, I think I can," she said louder, picking up courage with each turn of her wheels.

The hill grew steeper, and the weight of the red train felt heavier, but she didn’t stop. "I THINK I CAN, I THINK I CAN!" she chanted with all her might.

Her little engine puffed mightily, her wheels spun faster, and before long, she reached the very top of the mountain! "Hooray!" cheered the red train. "You did it!"

The little blue engine looked back at the valley below and grinned. "I knew I could," she said proudly. Together, they coasted down the other side, delivering toys, balloons, and treats to the delighted children waiting there.

And from that day on, whenever the little blue engine faced a challenge, she always said, "I think I can!"
