Once upon a time, in a sunny meadow filled with tall grass and soft flowers, there lived a little rabbit who thought he was very important. And, my oh my, he was a very bad rabbit. He was the kind of rabbit who didn’t say 'please' or 'thank you,' and he never shared his juicy carrots. Instead, he would take things that didn’t belong to him and scamper away without a care.
One bright afternoon, as the birds chirped and a soft breeze rustled the leaves, the bad rabbit spotted another rabbit happily munching on a big, crunchy carrot. This rabbit was small and kind, and he'd brought his carrot to the meadow for a peaceful lunch. The bad rabbit's nose twitched, and his whiskers wiggled. "What a delicious carrot," he thought. "That carrot should be mine!"
So, the bad rabbit puffed out his chest and hopped right up to the kind rabbit. Without even asking, he snatched the carrot away. "This is my carrot now," said the bad rabbit, nibbling on it with a smug grin.
The kind rabbit blinked in surprise but didn’t say a word. He looked at the bad rabbit and simply hopped back to the shade of a nearby tree. He didn’t want any trouble.
But the bad rabbit didn’t stop there. Feeling proud of himself, he decided to show off his 'prize.' He hopped onto a tree stump and waved the carrot in the air. "Look at me! I have the biggest, crunchiest carrot in the whole meadow!"
What the bad rabbit didn’t see was that someone else had noticed the carrot too—someone big, feathery, and very hungry. A passing bird, with sharp eyes and a sharp beak, had been watching from a treetop. To the bird, the carrot looked like a perfect snack. So, flapping its wings, the bird swooped down toward the unsuspecting bad rabbit.
WHOOSH! The bird zipped past, aiming for the carrot. The bad rabbit was so startled that he tumbled off the tree stump. He landed in a patch of dandelions, and the carrot? Well, the bird flew away with it, leaving the bad rabbit with nothing but a tuft of dandelion fluff on his nose.
The bad rabbit sat up, looking around in confusion. His carrot was gone, and now his fur was all messy. Worse yet, a few other rabbits in the meadow had seen the whole thing. They giggled and whispered to each other, "Maybe he’ll learn to ask nicely next time."
Feeling a little embarrassed, the bad rabbit dusted himself off and glanced at the kind rabbit under the tree. The kind rabbit was holding another carrot, nibbling quietly. This time, the bad rabbit didn’t puff out his chest or snatch anything. Instead, he gave a small hop closer and mumbled, "Do you think… I mean, could I have a bite?"
The kind rabbit looked at him for a moment and smiled. Breaking the carrot in half, he handed a piece to the bad rabbit. "Sharing is nice, isn’t it?" said the kind rabbit.
The bad rabbit nodded, chewing the sweet, crunchy carrot. And for once, he thought that maybe being kind wasn’t so bad after all.
And that’s why it’s always better to share instead of taking things that don’t belong to you!
