Once upon a time, in a cozy little house at the edge of a big, bright forest, there lived three bears: Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Baby Bear. They weren’t just any bears—they were a lovely bear family who loved porridge, comfy chairs, and each other. One sunny morning, Papa Bear said, "Our porridge is too hot! Let’s go for a walk while it cools down." So, off they went, leaving their breakfast and their charming home behind.
Now, not too far away, a curious little girl named Goldilocks was wandering through the very same forest. Goldilocks loved to explore, but sometimes her curiosity got her into a bit of trouble. As she skipped along, she spotted the bears’ house. "What a cute little cottage," she said. "I wonder who lives there?" She knocked once, then twice, but no one answered. "Hmm… it must be okay to peek inside," she decided. So, in she went.
The first thing Goldilocks noticed was the smell of warm, yummy porridge. Her tummy growled. On the table, there were three bowls: a big one, a medium one, and a tiny one. She grabbed a spoon and tried the porridge in the big bowl. "Yow! Too hot!" Next, she took a bite from the medium bowl. "Brr! Too cold." Finally, she tasted the porridge in the tiny bowl. "Oh, this one is just right!" she said with a grin. Before she knew it, the little bowl was empty.
Feeling full and happy, Goldilocks looked around and noticed three chairs by the fireplace. "I could use a little rest," she said. First, she tried the big chair. "Too hard!" Then she flopped onto the medium chair. "Too soft," she said, sinking like a marshmallow. But when she sat in the tiny chair, she smiled. "Ahh, just right!" But CRACK! The chair broke into bits! "Oops," Goldilocks said, hopping up quickly.
Goldilocks climbed the stairs to explore more of the house. At the top, she found three beds: a big one, a medium one, and a tiny one. "I’ll just lie down for a minute," she yawned. First, she tried the big bed. "Oh no, too lumpy," she said, rolling off. Next, she climbed into the medium bed. "Too squishy," she muttered. Finally, she crawled into the tiny bed. "Mmm, just right," she whispered as her eyes closed, and before long, Goldilocks was fast asleep.
While Goldilocks dreamed of honey and adventures, the bear family returned home. "What a lovely walk," said Mama Bear. But as soon as they stepped inside, they noticed something odd. "Someone’s been eating my porridge," rumbled Papa Bear. "And mine too," said Mama Bear. "Hey! Someone ate all of my porridge!" cried Baby Bear, pointing to his empty bowl.
They moved to the chairs. "Someone’s been sitting in my chair," said Papa Bear. "And mine," said Mama Bear. Baby Bear looked at his broken little chair and wailed, "Someone broke my chair!"
The bears hurried upstairs, and Papa Bear growled, "Someone’s been sleeping in my bed." Mama Bear gasped, "And in mine too!" Just then, Baby Bear squeaked, "Someone’s still in my bed! Look!"
Goldilocks woke up with a start to see three bears staring at her. "Oh dear!" she squeaked, leaping out of bed. She dashed down the stairs, out the door, and into the forest, her cheeks pink as apples. The three bears watched her go, then laughed. "What a funny little visitor," said Mama Bear, shaking her head.
From that day on, Goldilocks was a bit more careful about where her curiosity led her. And the three bears? They always made sure to lock their door before taking a walk.
Some houses are meant for bears, and some are just not meant for sharing!
