Curious Peter Rabbit sneaks into a garden, gets chased, and learns to listen to his mother.
By a soft, grassy meadow, under a leafy tree, Peter the bunny lived with his family. One bright morning, Peter’s mother said, “Don’t go into Mr. McGregor’s yard. That place is not safe!”
Peter tried to obey, but those garden vegetables were just too tempting. When Mama wasn’t looking, Peter hopped quickly through the grass. His sisters, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton-tail, stayed nearby, picking berries.
Peter wriggled under the fence and found himself in a world full of crunchy lettuce, orange carrots, and round green peas! Peter nibbled happily, chomping away until he heard a shout. “Stop!” yelled Mr. McGregor, stomping toward Peter with his hat and boots.
Peter’s heart beat fast. He bounced behind big cabbages, then under a bush, but—oops! His blue coat caught on a twig. Peter pulled and pulled, wriggling free, but the coat was left behind.
Without stopping, Peter scurried toward the little hole in the fence. He popped through and rolled onto the cool grass outside. Safe at last! Back home, Peter cuddled with his sisters. “Where’s your coat?” they asked. Peter yawned, snuggling into bed.
His mother tucked him in, giving him a gentle hug. “Remember to listen next time, Peter,” she said softly. Peter discovered staying safe is always a very good idea!
