Curiosity Caution
On a bright and silly morning, a round, golden pancake sizzled in a pan. It smelled so sweet that everyone in the little red house felt hungry. Mrs. Brown peeked in. “What’s that yummy smell?” she asked. Soon, Mr. Brown and their three giggly children tiptoed in, hoping for a taste.

Just then, the pancake gave a little wiggle, flipped out of the pan, and rolled off the table. “Oh no, our breakfast!” called the family and ran after the pancake—across the floor, out the door, and down the sunny path.

The pancake rolled faster than little feet. Soon, it met a friendly cow eating grass. “Hello, Pancake,” mooed the cow. “You look round and tasty! Can I have a bite?”

“Not today!” laughed the pancake. “I rolled away from Mrs. Brown, Mr. Brown, and three children. I can roll away from you!” Off it went.

Down the road, the pancake met a fluffy sheep. “A pancake! What a treat!” said the sheep. “Can I have a nibble?”

“Not today!” giggled the pancake. “I rolled from a family and a cow. I can roll from you!”

Next, it passed a bunny hopping in the field. “Hey, Pancake!” called the bunny. “You look yummy. Come here!”

“I rolled away from so many, I can hop away from you!” said the pancake, and off it went, rolling and giggling.

Last, it spotted a fox resting under a tree. “Hello, Pancake,” smiled the fox. “I won’t chase you. Will you roll closer so I can hear you?”

No one ever asked so sweetly, so the pancake rolled near. The fox gently picked it up on his nose and smiled. “Thank you for the fun, Pancake. Off you go!”

The pancake rolled home, happy and smart. From then on, it always looked before rolling too far from home.

It’s good to be curious, but best to think before you roll.
