The Tale of Benjamin Bunny
Benjamin Bunny helps Peter Rabbit find his lost clothes in Mr. McGregor’s garden, then the cousins enjoy a snack and a safe escape home.
On a bright, bouncy morning, Benjamin Bunny woke up full of excitement. Today, he was determined to visit Mr. McGregor’s garden, where the biggest and crunchiest carrots grew—just perfect for a little rabbit snack!
Benjamin slipped on his brown jacket, wiggled his soft nose, and hopped outside. Down the path he went, using all his sneaky bunny skills to squeeze under the garden gate without making a sound or a wiggle.
Inside the garden, Benjamin looked around in wonder at all the green leaves and orange carrot tops. Behind a row of cabbages, he suddenly saw his cousin Peter Rabbit. Peter was quietly searching under a bush and looked worried.
“Peter, what’s wrong?” whispered Benjamin.
“I lost my shoes and my blue coat last time I was here,” Peter replied, twitching his whiskers. “I have to find them before Mr. McGregor does!”
Benjamin’s eyes sparkled. “Let’s find them together!”
So, the cousins looked high and low: behind lettuce leaves, under tomato plants, and around the watering can. Finally, under a pile of twigs, they found Peter’s shoes and his blue jacket! Peter did a happy little jump and squeezed into his coat.
With everything found, Benjamin said, “Let’s grab a quick snack while we’re here.” They nibbled on some carrots and crunchy green beans, giggling as they filled their pockets with a few treats for home.
Suddenly, the garden gate creaked. The sound of heavy footsteps made the bunnies jump! It was Mr. McGregor, coming closer! The cousins held their breath and hid behind a big flowerpot, staying as still as stones.
Mr. McGregor looked around but didn’t see the clever rabbits. He soon walked away, and the garden was safe again.
Benjamin and Peter snuck back through the gate and hopped all the way home, their pockets full and their hearts happy. When they arrived, Peter’s mother was glad to see her little bunny in his jacket and shoes. She made a cozy lunch, and the two cousins shared their great garden adventure over leafy salads and happy giggles.
