On a bright and sunny morning, the Flopsy Bunnies woke up to the tasty smell of fresh lettuce in the air! Six little bunnies—Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail, and their four cousins—twitched their noses in excitement. “Let’s tiptoe to Mr. McGregor’s garden!” whispered Flopsy. Quiet as mice, they hopped and bounced through the green grass, their ears flapping and little tails wiggling with joy.

The bunnies slipped under a small gap in the fence and peeked into the big, green garden. All around them, crunchy lettuce, orange carrots, and green peas shone in the sun. The Flopsy Bunnies felt very lucky! “Just one tiny nibble,” said Cottontail. But soon, every bunny was chewing and munching. Lettuce leaves disappeared, and their tummies felt round and full.

The warm sun and soft grass made them sleepy. One by one, the bunnies’ eyes grew heavy, and soon they were all snoozing under a big cabbage leaf. Just then—stomp, stomp—someone was in the garden! It was Mr. McGregor. His boots made loud noises and his eyes squinted. “BUNNIES!” called Mr. McGregor. He hurried over, but the Flopsy Bunnies stayed asleep, dreaming of yummy lettuce.

Mr. McGregor grabbed a big sack. Gently, he picked up the bunnies, tucking them inside as they kept sleeping. The sack wobbled and shook, but the bunnies didn’t wake up and didn’t know they had been caught! Mr. McGregor marched away, thinking, “I’ve got those silly bunnies now.”

But close by, Thomasina Tittlemouse, the smart little mouse, watched everything. She tiptoed after Mr. McGregor, her tiny nose twitching. When he put the sack down to rest, Thomasina hurried over. Quickly, she nibbled a hole in the sack with her sharp teeth and whispered, “Wake up, little bunnies!” The Flopsy Bunnies stretched, yawned, and popped out, following Thomasina through the tall grass.

They bounced home, feeling excited and safe. When Mr. McGregor opened his sack, all he found were empty peapods! He shook his head and walked away.

The Flopsy Bunnies thanked Thomasina with big bunny hugs and promised to always watch carefully, even when they felt sleepy. If you stay close to your friends and pay attention, every day can bring a happy escape and a fun adventure!
